The U.S. economy has yet to face its biggest recession challenge - Jeff Cox
Can we escape a recession? Who knows. It is incredibly hard to predict a recession and there is no doubt about that. This is incredibly true as Jeff Cox points out, “There is no historical precedent to indicate that an economy in recession can produce 528,000 jobs in a month, as the U.S. did during July”.
Over the past couple of years, I expressed that the Federal Reserve is in an incredibly tough position. Increase interest rates? Recession-bound. Keep interest rates low? Recession-bound. I cannot even begin to fathom how to make a decision with interest rates right now. Especially at this point in time, your legacy could be ruined if you make the wrong decision. A fun time to be the Chairman of the Federal Reserve right now! Right?
E-Bikes Gain Ground for Americans Avoiding Gas Cars - Christopher Mims
Would you trade your car in for an electric bike? A married couple in Denver did just that. Due to long wait times for Teslas and high gas prices, they fully rely on their bikes for transportation now. As much as I love biking and clean transportation, it would be hard for me to ever make a move like this. What if you wanted to vacation at a place that is a couple of hours away? What if you wanted to see a friend that is not within driving distance on a bike?
It is easy to even poke holes in my questions (take a train, take an Uber/Lyft, etc.), but the convenience of a car is unmatched even though they release pollutants. If only we lived in a world where everything was just a bike ride away. That is a dream world right there.
What have I been up to?
Poll Question
I am itching to get back into writing short stories, so I wanted to put out a quick poll!
The Sad Story of Juan Soto
I am always scared to purchase a jersey, but picking up a Juan Soto jersey felt right. Let me see how poorly this ages when he leaves Washington after his contract is up.
All you have to do is look at the post from April… At the beginning of the MLB season, I got a Juan Soto jersey in the “City Connect” design. As a matter of fact, it was my first jersey since getting Bryce Harper’s. As you can see in the quote above, I predicted the unthinkable.
Although, my prediction was partially wrong since he got traded to the San Diego Padres rather than leaving after his contract ended. A sad time to be a Washington Nationals Fan.
I purchased a guitar!
It has been a goal of mine to learn the guitar for some time. At long last, my goal is finally off the ground! Learning to play the guitar is a fantastic way to decompress at the end of the day. So far, I can play only a few chords but am getting better as the days go by.
